Campbell sophomore Rudy Cabalar, who just won the state high school golf championship, vies for the Hickam Invitational title beginning tomorrow at the Māmala Bay Golf Course.

Cabalar will be joined in Championship Flight by Seung Jae Maeng and Tyler Ota, who won last weekend's Francis Brown Four-Ball Championship, along with Lorens Chan, Mike Kawate and Brandan Kop.

Cabalar was second to Matthew Ma at Hickam last year, barely missing a 35-foot birdie putt on the final hole that would have forced a playoff.

The tournament also has A, B, Senior and Super Senior flights.

WIE IN MATCH PLAY

Michelle Wie opens the Sybase Match Play Championship today against Stacy Prammanasudh. The Punahou graduate is seeded eighth while Prammanasudh, the 2007 Fields Open in Hawai'i champion, is 50th.

"The good news," Prammanasudh said of her matchup, "is that I'll be hitting into the greens first all day."

Winner of the tournament at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, N.J., gets $375,000 out of the $1.5 million purse.

The field of 64 has the world's 10 top-ranked players, including No. 1 Jiyai Shin, No. 2 Ai Miyazato and No. 8 Wie.

The Golf Channel's broadcasts will begin at 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. HST today and tomorrow, and 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on the weekend. Wie and Prammanasudh tee off at 7:04 a.m. HST today and will be shown in the afternoon broadcast.
