Advertiser Staff

The National Football League yesterday announced plans to ease traffic and parking problems for today’s Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium.

The plans by the league, Aloha Stadium officials, the Honolulu Police Department and the state Department of Transportation, include:

Parking lots will open at 9 a.m. and the gate to the stadium at 9:30 a.m., an hour and a half earlier than in the past.

Gates will be numbered to assist guests and pass holders to get to parking areas. Cars must go through the following gates to get to the various parking areas.

Cars will not be allowed to circle the stadium lot.

The gates are: Gate 1, main Salt Lake gate, for entry to parking areas 1-7; Gate 2, North Kam gate, for 8-14; Gate 3, Halawa gate, for upper Halawa parking lot; Gate 4, lower Halawa gate, for lower Halawa parking area; Gate 5, Kam lot gate, for the Kam lot.

Overflow parking has been set up at Ford Island and Leeward Community College. Parking is $3 and includes a free shuttle to and from the stadium.

Parking will close at 5 p.m., or an hour and a half after the game.
