Wife pleads not guilty in slaying

Advertiser Staff

A 68-year-old Waianae woman pleaded not guilty yesterday to a charge of second-degree murder in the Feb. 7 stabbing death of her husband.

Deputy public defender Todd Eddins has said he would pursue an insanity defense for Catherine T. Nakamura, who has a history of mental illness, according to court records.

According to a police affidavit, Nakamura told a police officer that she "knifed my husband," 68-year-old George M. Nakamura.

Catherine Nakamura is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
