Celeste Chung of Aiea, a student at Beloit College, was named a McNair Scholar. Students chosen for this program will participate in spring seminars designed to prepare them for the McNair Summer Research Program. Each student will also receive up to $2,800 for participation in the research program.

Kinohi S.S. Nishikawa of Honolulu, a student at Dartmouth College, was named a Senior Scholar. The Senior Scholars program awards students research grants that allow them to carry out more in-depth research for honors projects, theses or senior fellowships. Nishikawa, whose research is in the field of English, was one of 12 seniors awarded grants for the 2000-2001 academic year.
