Lecture tonight on living foods’

Viktoras Kulvinskas, an authority in the "living foods" movement promoting the healthful use of uncooked plant foods, will give a lecture tonight and a workshop Sunday at the Elks Lodge, 2933 Kalakaua Ave.

Tonight’s lecture, "Super Food Shortcuts to Rejuvenate Your Body," will begin at 7 p.m. in the Top of the Elks (TOE) Room. Fee: $5.

A half-day workshop, "Achieving Optimum Health," is set for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday in the Lodge Room. Fee (including snacks): $75.

Kulvinskas is best known for his book, "Survival Into the 21st Century: A Planetary Healing Manual."

Woman to discuss Arts in Hawaii’

Lorraine Dove will be the guest speaker at the upcoming meeting for the National Society of Arts and Letters, to be held at 11:45 a.m. Monday at the Pacific Club.

Dove, who guided the Honolulu Theatre for Youth to national prominence in the 1970s, has been the advisor to Richard Smart’s Kahilu Theatre in Kamuela since 1981 and established a summer arts program for children that is now in its 20th season at Kahilu.

She will speak about "What the Arts in Hawaii Have Meant to Me." The $20 fee includes a buffet lunch. Deadline to sign up is today. For more information, call 395-1555.
