Leilehua basketball team remains unbeaten

Ricardo Bachelor scored 19 points, Eric Marshall added 16 and Joshua Jumawan 15 as Leilehua defeated Campbell, 67-62, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association game last night at Leilehua.

Leilehua, ranked third in the HawaiiSportsNetwork.com Hawaii High School Boys’ Basketball Coaches and Media Poll, improved to 3-0. Campbell dropped to 1-1.

Campbell’s Jentel Morris led all scorers with 23 points.

STATE BOYS' BASKETBALL POLL

Kalaheo still on top: Kalaheo is No. 1 by a large margin in the first state boys’ basketball poll of 2001.

The poll was conducted among 43 coaches and media persons by HawaiiSportsNetwork.com before Tuesday’s games. Kalaheo received 40 first-place votes to three for No. 2 Iolani.

Kalaheo (3-0 in the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s Eastern Division and 14-1 overall) plays Kahuku (also 3-0 in the East) at 7 o’clock tonight at Kalaheo.

Leilehua was third; the top three are in the same order as the Dec. 20 poll. Kamehameha and St. Louis each climbed a rung, to fourth and fifth, respectively, and Waiakea fell from No. 4 to 7.
