Leilehua clinches tie for OIA West basketball title

Garland Gantt scored 24 points as unbeaten Leilehua trounced visiting Nanakuli, 83-44, last night to clinch a tie for the Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division boys’ basketball title.

Joshua Jumawan added 12 points and Eric Marshall 10 for the Mules (8-0), who also earned the West’s No. 1 seed for the OIA Championship Tournament, starting Feb. 8.

Leilehua jumped to a 19-2 lead after the first quarter and was never threatened thereafter.

Anthony Sandobal led the Golden Hawks with 18 points.
