Water works go awry

Board of Water Supply crews were kept busy yesterday fixing three broken water mains in Waikiki and Mapunapuna that cut off water to one apartment building and three businesses. In Waikiki, a main broke on Kaiulani Avenue between Ala Wai Boulevard and Cleghorn Street around 4 a.m., affecting a nearby apartment building. In Mapunapuna, crews repaired two broken mains on Kilihau and Kakoi streets that affected U-Haul Co., Goodwill Industries and Oahu Express Inc. The Kilihau break occurred at 2:28 a.m., and the Kakoi break occurred at 3:45 a.m. Roads remained open during the work.
