Digital TV demo open to public

Hawaii Public Television will present a demonstration of its latest technology from 1 to 5 p.m. March 12 at the HPTV studios, at 2350 Dole St. A 30-minute demonstration will begin on the hour, showcasing high definition television (HDTV), surround sound, multicasting and enhanced television. Those attending, however, must reserve space by calling 973-0291 by today. Digital TV, a mandate for all commercial TV stations by May 1, 2002, enables broadcasters to transmit video that is several times superior to that which is aired on analog TV receivers.
