TULSA, Okla. — The University of Hawai‘i Wahine basketball team outscored Southern Methodist 20-11 in overtime to claim a 97-88 victory today and advance to the championship game of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament at Reynolds Center.

The Wahine (23-6) meet regular-season champion Texas Christian (23-7) at 8:30 a.m. Hawaii time tomorrow in a nationally televised game. TCU beat Rice, 76-58, in today’s other semifinal game.

UH lost twice to TCU, which is top-seeded, in regular season play.

The winner will earn the conference’s automatic berth in next week’s NCAA Tournament and the runner-up will be under consideration for an at-large berth.

Dainora Puida led Hawai'i with 25 points. She scored 23 of her points after halftime.

Crystal Lee, who was held to two points in the first half, scored 19 of her 21 points after intermission. Kylie Galloway added 19 points.

The game was tied at 77 after regulation.
