NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. Offensive lineman Adrian Klemm of the New England Patriots pleaded innocent to a misdemeanor charge accusing him of damaging another motorists windshield in a traffic dispute.
At his arraignment in Attleboro District Court yesterday, Klemm, a former University of Hawaii player, was charged with malicious destruction of property valued at more than $250.
He is scheduled to be back in court April 11.
Klemm allegedly punched out the windshield of a car during a traffic incident on Wednesday. Klemm told police the other driver was repeatedly braking, forcing him and other motorists to slide on the icy road.
"It wasnt road rage, I wasnt angry," Klemm told The Sun Chronicle of Attleboro. "We exchanged information. I was calm."
The other driver, Dana P. Hooker, 37, told police he was waiting for traffic to pass when he was blocked by Klemms Ford Expedition. He said the 310-pound Klemm got out of the vehicle and punched his windshield.
Klemm completed his eligibility at Hawaii in 1999, and was the Patriots top draft pick in last years NFL draft. He spent much of the season on the injured list after damaging his right knee in June. He was activated Nov. 1.
