Hoku joins dad in Waikiki shows

Hoku Ho, teen singing sensation ("Another Dumb Blonde") and daughter of entertainer Don Ho, will sing with her famous father at 7 p.m. today through Wednesday at the Hoku Hale Showroom of the Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. Information: 923-3981.


Hawaii Stars’ adjusts finale

"Hawaii Stars," the karaoke TV show winding up an eight-year run on KHON Fox 2, has readjusted its final segments. The finale originally was set for 6:30 p.m. March 25; instead, a Hawaii Pacific University challenge show will air on that date, with the last show — a championship episode — now pegged for 6:30 p.m. April 1. Taping for the finale will be Friday at Ala Moana Center’s Centerstage.


Mililani planning the Bard’s Dream’

The Mililani Performing Arts Center will present Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" at 7 p.m. March 16, 17, 23 and 24 at the school cafetorium. Michael Cowell is directing, with Wayne Kischer doing sets, lighting and costume design. The production, re-set in the 1960s, will tap music by the likes of the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. Tickets: $5, $3 for students and faculty, at the door.


Visitor industry karaoke slated

Visitor industry employees may participate in a karaoke contest from 6 to 9 p.m. April 13 at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center’s Fountain Courtyard. The center and This Week magazine are sponsoring the event, open to amateur performers employed in the visitor industry. March 23 is the deadline to enter. Information: 843-6000.


Moon to give ukulele workshop

"The Magic of the Ukulele," a one-day workshop by Peter Moon, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. April 7 at the Mission Houses Museum. Dwight Kanae will assist. The session will cover ukulele fundamentals as well as slack key, plus a performance by Moon and Kanae. Cost: $45. Reservations: 531-0481.
