Yasuaki Seko has been named president of Shiseido of Hawai
i Inc. He was most recently in the cosmetics company’s corporate planning department at the Tokyo, headquarters.

Licensed civil engineer Bert R. Toba has been named vice president of R.M. Towill Corp., in charge of the surveying and photogrammetry department. Toba is a 26-year veteran in the fields of surveying and engineering.

Committee heads have been announced for the annual 2001 Building Industry Association — Hawaii, Parade of Homes, presented by Bank of Hawaii, Oct. 6-7 and 13-14: steering committee, Rick Hobson, Gentry Homes sales and marketing director; marketing co-chairs, Vicki Gayno, Haseko Homes vice president, and Donna Tomita, Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaii marketing director; sales, Rusty Rasmussen of First Hawaiian Bank; judging, Brooke Kaneshiro, Island Title vice president; golf, Lynne Kaneshiro, Island Title president; and banquet, Nicki Thompson, Hawaii Association of Realtors vice president. Bank of Hawaii has announced four new vice presidents: Tony Mizuno, also a commercial banking officer, responsible for managing business clients’ banking relationships; Catherine Sato, business products manager, overseeing business banking products and Internet services, also instrumental in the launch of the bank’s e-Bankoh Internet banking services for business; Lance Tanaka, group information officer in Marketing, Products and Communications Group, the bank’s primary government relations officer; and Kathryn Garrison, also Internet marketing manager, Marketing and Communications Group, responsible for managing marketing activities of the bank’s Web site.

Travel industry veteran Linda Mae Ululani Chock has been named director for developing international markets for the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau. She will be responsible for the group’s marketing activities in Asia, Europe, Oceania and Latin America. She was most recently sales manager for Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel, and before that, national sales manager for Jetour Hawaii.

Seth Feldman, responsible for developing Aruba’s first English-language newscast and former executive producer for NBC affiliate in Memphis, Tenn., has been named news director for the local NBC affiliate, KHNL-TV, News 8.

Angie Golis-Yamamoto has been named development officer for the University of Hawaii’s Cancer Research Center and will lead the center’s efforts to raise major gift monies for cancer research. She is former director of development at Damien Memorial High School, Academy of the Pacific and American Heart Association.

Brittney M. Martinez has been named manager of the Louis Vuitton store at Kings’ Shops at Waikoloa, Big Island.

Ernest H. Fukeda Jr. has been promoted to senior vice president and general manager of The Hawaiian Insurance & Guaranty Co., Ltd., also joining the senior staff of its parent company, Vesta Insurance Corp., Birmingham, Ala.

Ivy Olson, founder of the transitional shelter and training program for Hawaii’s homeless, the Angel Network Charities, has announced her retirement. She will be succeeded by Helga Wilhelm, a former director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu. Since founding the organization with her husband, the Rev. Douglas R. Olson, senior pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church, üina Haina, with the help of the church congregation, Olson has seen the group serve more than 1,400 participants, nearly half adults — most have become self-sufficient, tax-paying residents.

Renee Oyama, former fashion designer and owner of Renee Reiko Designs, manufacturer, wholesaler and distributor of women’s apparel, has been named design associate at interior design firm Partners in Design. Oyama has worked on the design of World Cafe and has done restaurant design research for Alan Wong’s Restaurant.

Local property and casualty insurance company Island Insurance Co. Ltd. has announced two appointments: Jill Yamashiro, new claims procedures and training coordinator, and Lynne Nishiura, named human resources manager.

The Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki Hotel has named Akira Moreno food and beverage director, also overseeing stewards, banquets and the Canoes at the Ilikai restaurant; and Serena Lotz, director of restaurants, overseeing all aspects of hotel bars, room service and Canoes restaurant.
