Honolulu-based Outrigger Hotels & Resorts has announced its first property in New Caledonia, further extending the companys aggressive Pacific expansion.
Outrigger will manage the oceanfront Kuendu Beach Resort throughout a two-year, $7.8 million redevelopment of the property that began in January, according to company statements.
The hotel will be branded as an Outrigger when the renovations are completed. The hotel is just north of the capital city, Noumea.
The property represents the latest move by the company into the Australia-South Pacific region. Outrigger has four hotels in Australia, and its long-term strategy there includes full-service hotels in gateway cities such as Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, said the companys vice president of business development Bill Henderson.
Henderson said the company expects to announce another property in Queensland shortly.
Closer to home, Outrigger recently announced that it would take over management of the rental program for the Royal Kahana Resort, an upscale condominium in West Maui, starting May 1.
The resort represents Outriggers eighth upscale condominium in Hawaii and its fourth on the island of Maui. The rental program covers about 200 of the resorts 236 units, the company said.
