Health officials examining Halawa housing units
State health officials today were examining 18 units at the Puuwai Momi housing project in Halawa for mercury contamination. Two needed air monitoring and three needed detailed sanitizing.

Submarine force chief of staff describes accident's aftermath

Shooter had taken crystal meth before killing girlfriend
The man who killed his girlfriend and was then killed in a shootout with police at Ala Moana Center in January had crystal methamphetamine in his system, according to a medical examiners report released today.

Pearl City girl victim of apparent hit-and-run
A city bus driver found a 14-year-old Pearl City girl lying injured in the road near Pohakea Elementary School in Ewa Beach today in a possible hit-and-run, officials said.
