By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Editor

The women of Tau Dance Theatre - Rachel Berman, Annie Belati, Cora Yamagata and Esther Izuo - will premiere works they have choreographed in "Ladies Night Out!" at 8 p.m. March 30 and 31 at Leeward Community College Theatre.

Tau Dance Theatre

The event opens the fifth season for Tau Dance Theatre, under the direction of Peter Rockford Espiritu, founder-artistic director, and Rachel Berman, associate artistic director.

The new works by the choreographers will be performed by the Ladies of Tau Dance Theatre, including Kanako Ima-yoshi, Ann Smith, Dianna Luster, Annie Belati, Cora Yamagata and Eve Walstrum.

Guest artists on the bill will include:

The Pua Melia trio.

Halau O Kekuhi, with kumu hula Nalani Kanakaole and Pualani Kanakaole Kanahele.

Chizuko Endo and the women of Kenny Endo’s Taiko of the Pacific.

Lori Ohtani’s Tangentz group, in a performance of butoh.

Chinese dance by Sing Sing Bliss.

Guest artists traditionally have evolved into a Tau Dance Theatre signature, and the array lined up represents a gamut of cultural styles, from Chinese and Japanese to traditional Hawaiian.
