Mercury scare should not have happened
It is unreasonable to expect the government to protect everyone from each and every imaginable danger. But someone should have recognized that an "attractive nuisance" — mercury — should have been removed long before curious children could get their hands on it.

It's worrisome to see President Bush's fledgling moves in regard to Korea policy splashing cold water on such visions as Nelson Mandela's "peace park." We hope Bush's mistrust, however prudent, won't stop him from sharing such dreams.
