Culinary Calendar


Tomorrow

Spring Beer Dinner, 6:30 p.m. at the Parc Cafe at the Waikiki Parc Hotel. Pyramid Brewery provides select beers to accompany a five-course Euro-Asian dinner by chef Don Maruyama. $42 per person plus tax and tip. 931-6643.

Friday

"Mon Chateau St. Michelle," 5-6:30 p.m. at Sam Choy’s Diamond Head restaurant. A tasting of wines from Chateau St. Michelle of Washington state with Kathy Kam of American Wines and Spirits as hostess. Included in the tastings will be 1998 vintages of Horse Heaven Sauvignon Blanc and Cold Creek Riesling, 1996 Indian Wells Chardonnay, 1997 Canoe Ridge Cabernet, 1998 Canoe Creek Merlot, 1997 Horse Heaven Late Harvest Riesling. Appetizers by chef Elmer Guzman. $20 per person. 449 Kapahulu Ave. 732-8645.

Saturday

"Pizza, Pizza and More Pizza!," a hands-on/demonstration cooking class for kids at Kapiolani Community College. From 9 a.m.-noon, class is for kids ages 7-12; 1-4 p.m. class is for kids ages 12-17. Parents welcome to attend. Lori Wong is the instructor. $15 fee; 734-9211.

Tuesday

"The Cuisine of Italy" is the theme of lunch menus offered by the Advanced Culinary students at Leeward Community College’s Pearl Dining room. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. 455-0475

Coming up

March 21: Guest chef dinner at The Pearl Dining Room, 5:30 p.m. at Leeward Community College. Culinary students join forces with Roy Yamaguchi, executive chef/restaurateur, Roy’s restaurants; and Hiroshi Fukui, executive chef of L’Uraku restaurant, to present a four-course dinner paired with wines. Sizzling moi carpaccio and seared sea scallops by Fukui; goat cheese peppercorn crusted tenderloin and trio of desserts by Yamaguchi. $55 per person plus tax and tip. 455-0475.
