Americans owe president full support

Freedom does not come naturally.
When we are threatened, do we turn the other cheek? I say never. All of the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks should not have been in vain. It is and was an outright declaration of war. Let us not forget this, ever.
Tom Sugita, a "semi-retired" executive, serves on the state Civil Service Commission.
America should never back away from those people and countries that take away lives and freedom that we Americans so cherish.
When our commander in chief, the president, asks all freedom-loving nations to join in partnership, there should be no hesitation.
It is never too late for the United States to show the world that we mean business. Diplomacy, in many instances, fails to get results. It is essential to act swiftly and with decisive results.
Never again should the United States get involved in untimely conflicts like the Korea and Vietnam wars. We lost too many precious lives.
Giving Saddam and his regime more time gives him more time to maneuver and manipulate to our disadvantage.
If the powers that be had been more decisive in their plan of attack some 12 years ago, this situation would be moot. We gave Saddam 12 years to recoup, to the detriment of the world.
If we can't support our president in his mission to get rid of this defiant dictator, then we Americans and the world will more than likely face further consequences and the loss of more human lives. Honestly ask yourself if this is what you want more of in the future.
Saddam and Osama bin Laden already have changed our way of thinking about freedom and peace. Do I want this for my children and grandchildren and future generations? Hell, no.
Will this alter my lifestyle? Not necessarily, because life is fragile, and I want to continue to enjoy what life still has to offer.
Nobody wins in any war. But when push comes to shove, yes, this tyrant must go. No ifs, ands or buts. We should all give our full and unconditional support if a conflict will resolve this problem. Those who want to play on both sides of the fence can't have both cake and frosting. We make tough decisions and defend those decisions. Nothing in life is easy.
We have the evidence, we have the military strength. If we have an obligation to the world to preserve and secure peace, then time has run out for Saddam. Or are we just big talkers?
When our brave men and women accomplish their missions and return home safely to loved ones, let not a single soul forget to appreciate and thank them for jobs well done.
That is the least a grateful nation and world must do. I fully support the president, without hesitation, in his quest to rid us of Saddam.
