She was one of the early "hula maids" of New York City, a Maui girl who learned to dance professionally in the Big Apple. But everyone knew her as "Auntie Betty" and today they are mourning her death. ELIZABETH PUANANI KALOLO MAKIA died July 2 in New York. She was 88. See story.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Kaneohe Missionary Baptist Church for PAUL BRZEZOWSKI, 48, and his son MATTHEW, 7, who were killed June 27 when they were struck in a crosswalk in Nanakuli. See story.
