Hayes gets top catch in wahine tourney

Team All In The Ohana's Stormy Hayes caught a 566-pound Pacific Blue marlin Saturday to take top honors at the Eighth Annual Huggo's Na Pua O Ke Kai Wahine fishing tournament.
Hayes was fishing aboard Piilani B with captain Tootsie Tim. Her first-place fish was worth $15,300.
The tournament, featuring 375 women anglers on 91 colorfully decorated charter boats, was held in waters off the Big Island's Kona Coast.
Gae Callaway, of team Pamela, caught the second-place fish a 470.5-pound blue marlin while fishing aboard Pamela with captain Peter Hoogs.
Lillian Matsumoto, of team Deceivers, landed the third-place fish a 311.5-pound blue marlin while fishing aboard Terminator with captain Randy Llanes.
A substantial percentage of the income generated by the tournament will be donated to Family Support Services of West Hawai'i, a non-profit, family oriented, community support agency.
YOUTH BASEBALL
Hilo routs Alaska: Matt Haasenritter pitched a five-hitter and struck out nine as Hilo defeated Alaska, 11-1, in the Little League Senior (ages 14-16) Division Tournament yesterday in Forest Grove, Ore.
Kyle Correia, Kulea Bondallian and Jesse Yamashita each batted 2 for 4, and Bondallian and Yamashita also doubled.
Hilo will play the winner of Montana and Oregon tomorrow in the winners' bracket of pool play.

'Aiea edges Washington: Keoni Lum, Tripper Chung and Derek Grace each batted 2 for 5 as 'Aiea defeated Washington, 5-4, in nine innings at the Little League Junior (ages 13-14) Division Tournament yesterday in Vancouver, Wash.
Markus Miyashiro was the winning pitcher.
GOLF
Chun wins Masters: Mark Chun shot a 2-under-par 70 yesterday to win the Amatour Hawai'i Kapolei Masters Tournament at the Kapolei Golf Course.
Joe Phengsavath and Mohammad Ali tied for second at 71, with Johnny E. McCray a stroke behind in fourth.
The tournament was shortened to one round after lightning forced officials to cancel Saturday's opening round.
MEETING
QB Club today: Darnell Arceneaux, Hawaiian Islanders quarterback and Saint Louis School head coach, is scheduled to speak at tomorrow's noon meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.
Joining Arceneaux on the dais at the Pagoda Hotel ballroom are beach volleyball players Heidi Ilustre and Tanya Fuamatu, and KITV broadcaster Kanoa Leahey.
Lunch $7.50 for club members, $8 for non-members begins at 11:30 a.m.
CORRECTION
Sakai's a Mililani grad: Debbi Sakai, who placed second in the 110-pound division of the Asics Girls Junior National Wrestling Championships, is a 2003 graduate of Mililani High School. Another school was listed in a story posted yesterday.
