Jared Pate pitched a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts as Punahou overwhelmed Kamehameha, 10-0, in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu game at Ala Wai Field.

Mark Veneri batted 3 for 4 with four RBIs for Punahou, which scored six unearned runs on five hits and two errors in the sixth inning.

Kamehameha, the defending state champion, committed six errors.

Galen Komo had two hits and Jared Nakama drove in a pair for Iolani, which led 6-0 after two innings.

The game was shorten to five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.
