WESLEY LUM

Wesley Lum, a 6-year-old from Pearl City, had gone fishing before, but had never caught anything as big as this 4-pound catfish he landed at Nu'uanu Reservoir.

"That was the first big fish he caught," mother Wendy Lum said. "He had a fish story after."

Father Cliff Lum said Wesley brought the fish in himself.

"He was fighting that thing," Cliff said. "He was really surprised at how big it was. The first thing he said was, 'How are we going to cook it?' "
