The third stage of the 2004 United States Professional Longboard Surfing Championships will be at Waikiki's Kuhio Beach on Thursday and Friday.
A total purse of $26,000 will be split equally between the men and women competitors.
Among the male surfers scheduled to compete are defending champion world champion Bonga Perkins of Hawai'i and 2002 champion Colin McPhillips of California.
At least three other former world champions will be competing, including Joel Tudor from California, and Dino Miranda and Rusty Keaulana from Hawai'i.
Auto racing
Budweiser Gold Cup at Raceway Park
Hawai'i Raceway Park will host the sixth drag race in the Budweiser Gold Cup series tomorrow.
Races start at 6:30 p.m. with drivers racing a quarter-mile at the course in Kapolei.
Current point leaders in their respective divisions are Michael Sittman, James Barboza, Darryl Fukumoto, Scott Kaichi and Kevin Suehira.
