Track & field clinic for officials set

A Level I clinic for track and field officials is scheduled for today and tomorrow at Punahou School.

Eugene Stemm and Ray Fitzhugh, two master-rated officials from California, will participate in the Hawai'i Association of USA Track and Field Officials Committee event.

The clinic starts at 6 tonight in the upper level classroom of the Punahou athletic building. The event will continue at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

The clinic will cover the application of new high school competition rules and how they differ from NCAA and masters rules.

There is no fee for the clinic. For more information, call 732-8805.

Basketball, park golf scheduled: The 2nd Annual Honolulu Sports Festival will begin today with the Rainbow Basketball Tournament.

The tournament, which will feature teams from Japan and Hawai'i in men's and women's divisions, runs through Sunday.

The men's games will be at Manoa Recreational Center today and tomorrow. Start time for today is 6:30 p.m.

The women's games will be tomorrow and Sunday. Tomorrow's games will be at Kaimuki Gym, starting at 9:30 a.m.

The championship rounds will be at the Neal Blaisdell Center on Sunday starting at 11 a.m.

Admission is free.

On March 6, there will be a park golf exhibition at Ala Moana Beach Park. Park golf, which originated in Hokkaido, Japan, is similar to miniature golf as it uses just one club for the round.
