Two Hawai'i teams have qualified for the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup in Cary, N.C.
The Mililani Soccer Club boys under-13 gold and Real Hawai'i Futbol Club under-12 girls teams will be competing in the week-long tournament that starts on July 20.
Real Hawai'i is the first team from the state invited to compete in the premier division while Mililani is the first boys soccer team from the state invited to compete in the tournament's Division I pool.
Mililani earned the invite after winning the Division I Championship at the U.S. Club Soccer Regional Tournament from June 12 to 15 in Las Vegas. Real Hawai'i earned its invite by winning the premier U12 division at the same tournament.

Boomerang captures Kalakaua Cup Series
Boomerang, a 41-foot Sydney design, won the Kalakaua Cup Series, during the Fourth of July weekend.
- The series covered three days. The winner's trophy is the only one that was awarded by a reigning king. King Kalakaua presented it at the time when Hawai'i was still a kingdom.

BASKETBALL
Fundamentals camp at Manoa Valley gym
Former University of Hawai'i players Tim Shepherd and Kalia McGee will be instructors at the Sole Fundamentals Basketball Camp. The camp is July 12 to 16 at Manoa Valley District Park Gym.
Two sessions will be held daily. Session 1 for boys and girls, grades 5 to 7, is 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Session 2 for boys and girls, grades 8 to 11, is 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
Brandyn Akana, Brigham Young-Hawai'i assistant, and high school coaches also will instruct.

Men's slowpitch tournament set
The Hooters Championship Series/State Tournament for Men's Slowpitch C and D softball divisions is July 16 to 18 at the Central O'ahu Regional Park Softball Complex.Ê

BODYSURFING
Championship meet at Sandy Beach
The Sandy Beach Bodysurfing Championships, featuring bodyboarding and handboarding in various age groups, as well as bodysurfing, is this weekend at Sandy Beach.
A surf safety clinic will be held each day tomorrow and Sunday. Entries will be accepted at day of the event. For information, call Bob Thomas at 255-5587.
