Mililani High senior Sarah Yoro, last year's O'ahu Interscholastic Association Western Division Player of the Year, verbally committed to play soccer at the University of Oregon.

"Now it is one less thing I have to worry about so I can concentrate on the high school season," she said.

Yoro joins several former Hawai'i all-stars, including former Trojan teammate Mele French, and Baldwin alums Nicole Garbin and Kami Kapaku, all former Advertiser All-State first-team selections.

"They were able to confirm everything that was going on, that everybody was being truthful about the program," said Yoro, who said French was her host during her recruiting visit. "I'll feel a lot more comfortable playing with people I've played with before."

The signing period for women's soccer for the 2005-06 season begins Feb. 2, 2005.

Yoro also took recruiting visits to Montana and San Diego State, and cancelled a visit with Maryland, after deciding to commit to Oregon.
