Tiger says playing with peers beneficial

 •  Wie driven to make cut

Tiger Woods, who dominated competitors in his age group as an amateur, wonders if Michelle Wie shouldn't be playing more tournaments with her peers.

The Sony Open "will serve her in the sense that she understands the level of competition she's playing at," Woods said last week at the Mercedes Championships at Kapalua, Maui.

"But I think — this is my opinion and how I grew up — there's an art form to winning," said Woods, whose father, Earl, did not allow him to play in pro events when he, like Wie, was a teen prodigy.

"Learning how to win different ways — when you're dominating (or) when you don't have anything at all and somehow you've got to gut it out and win. There's so many different ways that you can win a golf tournament. I think I've gone through all that, so I've learned," Woods said.

"I think what she's doing might hurt her, but at the end she might be so talented she might just win everything and it might be a new way of doing it."
