A new after-school basketball program, "PowerPlay!," will soon be available for teens in the Windward O'ahu area.

The YWCA of O'ahu and Brother Noland Goodwill Charities have partnered to bring the program for youths ages 13 to 17, at the YWCA Kokokahi on Kane'ohe Bay Drive. It will feature a number of different basketball coaches.

There will also be an emphasis placed on character-building and teamwork. For this reason, several cultural presenters, including master navigator Nainoa Thompson, will speak to participants.

The program is open to members of the YWCA of O'ahu for which youth memberships are $15 per year.

PowerPlay! will run on Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., from Feb. 3 to March 19. Sign-up deadline is Monday. Contact Judy Allen at 538-7061, ext. 221, for more information.
