With someone who can make it five in a row for the Raiders, that's how.
Iolani senior Kyle Pape had the imposing task of taking over as the Raiders' leader, a role previously filled by three-time Advertiser State Player of the Year Derrick Low. But Pape, a 6-foot-1 swingman, did the job as well as anyone could have expected in leading Iolani to its fifth straight league championship.
Pape averaged 17.9 points per game, including 24 points in a 52-50 victory over Punahou. In the Raiders' second win over Punahou, he scored 12 points, but 10 of those came in the final five minutes, including the game-winning basket with seven seconds remaining for a 44-43 victory.
Pape is joined on the ILH All-Star first team by Punahou sophomore Miah Ostrowski, Iolani junior Vinny Nip, Maryknoll junior Tyler Tsukazaki, Kamehameha senior Ikaika Hardie and Saint Louis senior Jack Miller.
Ostrowski, a 5-8 guard, averaged 18.6 points per game in spectacular fashion. Nip, a 5-9 guard, averaged 11.5 points per game and directed Iolani's offense from the point. Tsukazaki, a 5-10 guard, averaged 15.6 points per game.
Mugiishi
Hardie, a 5-10 guard, averaged 12.3 points per game and helped Kamehameha gain a state tournament berth.
Miller, a 6-3 point guard, was the league's scoring champion at 19.1 points per game, and also added leadership.
Mugiishi was named Coach of the Year as the Raiders extended their ILH win streak to 56 games.
