Kamu Auwae of Nanakuli won the professional division and placed second in the stand-up paddle division of the Steinlager Shaka Longboard Series last weekend at Kuhio Beach, Waikiki.

It was the second contest of the 2008 Steinlager Series.

Auwae received $1,200 for winning the professional division. He placed second at the opening contest of the year, and is the points leader for the 2008 series.

"It was all about going for two solid waves, and I knew I had it during the final," Auwae said. "I kept a good pace knowing Duane (DeSoto) was right behind."

DeSoto received $600 for placing second in the professional division.

Kekoa Auwae — Kamu's younger brother — placed third, and Keegan Edwards was fourth.

Ikaika Kalama of Waialua won the stand-up paddle division, edging Kamu Auwae in the final.

Winners of the amateur age-group divisions were: Jackson Hollingsworth (menehune), Nelson Ahina (junior men), Dane McCallum (men), Shane Hamamoto (masters), Daniel Stein (senior men), Stephen Katayama (grandmasters), Soyu Kawamoto (legends), Megan Godinez (junior wahine), Leah Dawson (wahine), Susan Nishida (senior wahine).

ASP MEN'S WORLD TOUR SET TO RESUME JULY 10

After a one-month break, the Association of Surfing Professionals world tour will resume next month in South Africa.

The Billabong Pro is scheduled for July 10 to 20 at Jeffreys Bay, South Africa. It will be the fifth of 11 stops on the 2008 World Championship Tour.

Florida's Kelly Slater has won three of the first four events, and holds a commanding lead in the overall ratings. Slater is on pace for a record ninth world title.

Kaua'i's Andy Irons is the top-ranked Hawai'i surfer at No. 8. Among the other Hawai'i surfers on the tour, Roy Powers and Pancho Sullivan are tied at No. 19, Bruce Irons is No. 27, and Fred Patacchia Jr. is No. 28.

The women's world tour is on a break until Aug. 28.
