The date is set for the 7th annual Waikiki Spam Jam, and it's April 25. The dual goals: to have lots of fun and to collect at least 10,000 cans of Spam for the Hawaii Foodbank. The Mr. and Ms. Spam contests will ensue. Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. More than 25,000 are estimated to have attended last year. Admission is free, entertainment is free. Bring a can or two of Spam and your sense of humor.

GOOD CAUSE

For 21 years, the Taste of Hawaii Ultimate Sunday Brunch has been benefiting charity and celebrating Island chefs' creativity on Kaua'i. This year, on June 7 at Smith's Tropical Paradise in Wailua, a 30-acre private park, event founder Jean-Marie Josselin will join chef Alan Wong as honorary chair. Attendees will sample food prepared by more than 50 Island chefs, enjoy entertainment and bid at auction for locally made products. Beneficiaries include scholarship programs, community projects and youth services selected by the the Rotary Club of Kapa'a. Tickets are $75, available online at www.tasteofhawaii.com and at various Kaua'i venues.
