Brown wins Pro Tour title

KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII — Casey Brown, of Fort Smith, Ark., shot a final-round 2-under-par 70 yesterday to capture Pro Tour Hawaii’s third event of the season at the Big Island Country Club.

Brown finished with a 72-hole total of 11-under 277 to earn the $18,000 first prize. Third-round leader Alan Zimmerman, of Palm Beach Garden, Fla., shot a 72 and finished tied with Hilo’s Kevin Hayashi (66) at 279.

Zimmerman and Hayashi, who won the first event two weeks ago at Waimea Country Club, each took home $8,800.

"Obviously, winning in this profession doesn't happen every often, so it is really gratifying," said Brown. "We put a lot of effort into it and we don't get many chances like this."

Pro Tour Hawaii, presented by Paradise Resort Development Corporation, is a series of 10, $100,000 golf tournaments.

The circuit moves to Oahu for the next two tournaments. The fourth event will be at Koolau Golf Course, Feb. 13-16. Admission is free to all tournaments.
