Eight fire companies responded to the 7:17 a.m. fire at the Prospect Tower located at 927 Prospect St. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 7:35 a.m.

Police closed off Prospect Street from Ward Avenue to Magazine Street.

The fire started in unit 1403, possibly in the living room or bedroom, fire officials said.
