Clear Channel Hawai
i has named Ken Martin the new program director for KUCD-FM (Star 101.9). Martin fills the vacancy left by Bill George, who recently moved to the Mainland. Martin previously was with Clear Channel in Tampa, Fla. Charles Cotton was named market manager. Cotton has served as interim market manager since November. Patrick Leonard has been named the new local sales manager for the station.

Aston Hotels & Resorts Hawaii has appointed five employees to new management positions: Mike Sands, general manager of The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach; Hamilton Toledo, general manager of Maui Kaanapali Villas; Monica Schiffer, resident manager of The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach; Mike Winchatz, general manager of Coral Reef Hotel; Patty Maher, general manager of both the Waikiki Joy and Aston Coconut Plaza Hotel.

Spirent Communications-Adtech Division has hired Stacey Acma as executive assistant for the president, Tareq Hoque, and vice president of sales John Loia. The company also has hired Joanne A. Redoblado as public relations associate.

Laura Ysassi has been named inside coordinator for the Star Temps division of ProStaffing Inc.’s Honolulu office. Ysassi will be responsible for applicant recruitment, training and placement for clerical, administrative and other temporary help positions.

American Machinery has promoted Garrett M. Uyetake to parts manager. Uyetake is responsible for parts inventory and sales statewide, as well as customer support issues.

Ward Almeida has joined Sheraton Waikiki as hotel manager. Almeida previously was executive assistant manager/food and beverage director at the Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa.

Debbie A. Wong has joined Oceanic Cable as new technical manager in the IS Department. Previously she was senior technical analyst with Duty Free Shoppers.

Malama Na Keiki Foundation has elected the following to its board of directors: Patrick K.S.L. Yim, president; Alan M.L. Yee, vice president; Sanne Higgens, secretary; Piia Aarma, treasurer; Bruce T. Yoshida, a director; and Vaughn G.A. Vasconcellos, a director.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Honolulu has announced its 2001 board of directors: Tim Ho, Hawaii Employers Council, to chairman; Glenn Inouye, Servco Pacific Inc., chair-elect; Jan Kuromoto, Pacific Century Trust, treasurer; Nita Williams, HR-Pacific, secretary.

The Hawaii Hotel Security Association has elected new officers for 2001: Todd Condon, director of safety and security of the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel, president; Wayne Goodwin, director of safety and security at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hawaii, vice president; Davie Felipe, director of safety/security of the Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel, treasurer; Tim Haverly, chief of security, Marine Surf Waikiki Hotel, secretary. Directors: Wayne Ogino, director of risk management, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Hawaii; Hayden Schmidt, director of safety/security, Royal Hawaiian Hotel; and Kaleo Keolanui, director of safety and security for the Pacific Beach Hotel.

The Hawaii Attractions Association has named board officers for 2001: Darrell Metzger, president and chief executive of Atlantis Adventures, chairman; Von Orgill, president and chief executive of Polynesian Cultural Center, vice chairman; Dave Chevalier, president, Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, secretary; John Morgan, president, Kualoa Activity Club, treasurer.

The Institute of Real Estate Management, Hawaii chapter, has elected officers for 2001: Barbara Campbell, vice president of Outrigger Enterprises, president; Linda A. Gee, of PM Realty Group, president-elect; Jeffrey N. Mau of Outrigger Hotels Hawaii, treasurer; Ed Sullivan of Jackson & Sullivan, secretary.
