Tip-Off
Hawai'i Theatre presents best of The Beatles

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Editor

"Get Back," a musical featuring hit songs by The Beatles, will be staged Feb. 23-25 at the Hawaii Theatre.

The curtain times will be 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

The show, with actors from the Broadway and London casts of "Beatlemania," will focus on the 1960s British invasion of musical acts, topped by the Liverpool four. The production, featuring period costumes, instruments and characterizations, chronicles the rise and fall of The Beatles, with emphasis on three eras: the early Brit invasion, complete with mop-top hairdos; and the "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band," and "Let It Be/Abbey Road" periods.

Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr are depicted.

The show boasts a score of more than 30 Beatles classics. Geared to family audiences as well as rock aficionados, the production has toured extensively, not only in the United States but in England, Brazil, Japan and Canada.

Tickets: $20-$35, on sale at the box office; $5 discounts available for seniors, students and military personnel, as well as Hawaii Theatre Center members. Half-price "rush" tickets will be available for youth, students and seniors, for same-day sales only from the box office. Charge by phone: 528-0506.
