Presidents’ Day holiday

Here’s what’s open and closed today, Presidents’ Day.

GOVERNMENT:

Federal offices: Closed.

State offices: Closed.

City, county offices: Closed.

SCHOOLS:

Public: Closed.

University of Hawaii:

No classes; offices closed; Hamilton and Sinclair Libraries closed.

PUBLIC SERVICES:

Libraries: Most closed Saturday through Monday. Open Saturday, closed Tuesday: Waialua; Kailua, Kona; Kihei, Lanai and Princeville.

TheBus: Saturday schedule. Call 848-5555.

On-street parking: Free except Kalakaua Avenue meters adjacent to Queen Kapiolani Park; holiday towaway zone parking as permitted by sign; municipal lot meters must be fed.

Traffic: No coning.

Trash: Regular rubbish pickup.

Landfills and convenience centers: Open.

Open Markets: Closed.

Municipal golf courses: Open.

City Recreation Centers: Open.

Mail: Post offices closed; no regular residential or business delivery; no regular (blue) collection box pickup; Express Mail delivered.

Humane Society: Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Blood bank: Dillingham center open 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; downtown center closed.

FINANCIAL SERVICES:

Banks, and savings and loans: most closed; some store branches open.

Stock market: Closed.

Credit unions: Most closed.

MUSEUMS/INSTITUTIONS:

Nat’l Memorial Cemetery (Punchbowl): Open.

Arizona Memorial: Open.

Polynesian Cultural Center: Open.

Contemporary (art) Museum, grounds, gift shop and cafe: Closed.

Bishop Museum: Open.

Honolulu Zoo: Open.

Japanese Cultural Center (and Historical Gallery): Closed.

Waikiki Aquarium: Open.

Academy of Arts: Closed.

Botanical Gardens, including Foster Garden, Hoomaluhia, Wahiawa and Koko Head botanic gardens: Open.

Lyon Arboretum (UH): Closed.

Hawaii Maritime Center: Open.

Pacific Aerospace Museum (Honolulu International Airport): Open.

U.S. Army Museum: Closed.

Mission Houses Museum: Closed. Iolani Palace: Closed.

Queen Emma Summer Palace: Open.

Sea Life Park: Open.

USS Bowfin: Open.

USS Missouri: Open.

Waimea Valley Adventure Park: Open.

Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens: Open.

Waipahu Cultural Garden Park (and Hawaii’s Plantation Village): Closed.
