Counties begin to get equity from state
The first step toward fairer fiscal treatment of Hawai'i's four counties was finally reached this week in an out-of-court settlement between the counties and the state. The state agreed to let the counties keep a portion of the public service company taxes imposed on utilities.

Under ideal circumstances, girls would be in constant, close consultation with their parents about every important life decision — from academics and religion, chores and curfew, to sensitive issues such as sex and abstinence, pregnancy prevention and the choices that accompany pregnancy.
