The Rev. Darrow Aiona places ashes on the foreheads of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church parishioners, part of yesterday’s Ash Wednesday observance marking the start of the Lenten season. Father Aiona and the Rev. Norio Sasaki conducted the service in the morning and the evening at the church in Honolulu’s Kapahulu neighborhood.
