The Honolulu Police Departments Internal Affairs division has completed its criminal investigation of a Jan. 13 police shooting at Ala Moana Center in which a murder suspect was killed.
Lt. Gregory Poole, who headed the investigation into the death of Mitchell Udani, said today he plans to submit the findings to Honolulu Prosecuting Attorney Peter Carlisles office sometime next week. Prosecutors will determine whether the shooting was justified.
Four of five police officers responding to the scene returned fire against Udani, who had a shotgun. Udani, 26, had fatally shot his girlfriend, 25-year-old Cherry Ann Cachola Domingo.
