Fullerton's Suzuki hitting hefty .419

Cal State Fullerton catcher Kurt Suzuki continues his tear at the plate.

The 2001 Baldwin High graduate is ranked 29th nationally in batting average at .419, according to NCAA statistics through Sunday. Suzuki is tied for the team lead with five home runs and leads the Titans with 47 RBIs. He is second on the team with 13 doubles.

Meanwhile, second baseman Keoni Ruth (Kamehameha '03) has been a consistent .300 hitter for the San Diego Toreros. Through Sunday, Ruth was batting .329 with four doubles, two triples and four home runs with 29 runs and 26 RBIs. He leads the team in steals with seven (in seven attempts).

Ruth has started in 40 of the team's 41 games.

Washington State infielder Zach McAngus (Kamehameha '02), is batting .337 with nine doubles and five home runs with 26 runs and 24 RBIs. He transferred from the Air Force Academy after the past school year.

Pepperdine pitcher Kea Kometani (Punahou '01) is 4-5 with a 3.88 ERA. His 10 starts are second-most on the team.

San Francisco pitcher Patrick McGuigan (Mid-Pacific '02) leads the Dons with four saves. He is 1-2 with a 2.62 ERA. His only win came in a relief appearance against Hawai'i in February at Les Murakami Stadium.

Chicago State infielder Jonathan Sakurai ('Aiea '03) is tied for the team lead with 13 steals (in 16 attempts). He is batting .274.
