There was not much of a secret to 'Aiea's success in girls volleyball this season when it came to offense.

'Aiea junior Lelani Kleman-Maeva, left, was voted player of the year and coach Blythe Yamamoto was named coach of the year after leading Na Ali'i to a 10-0 regular season.

Na Ali'i featured the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Western Division's most intimidating outside hitter in 5-foot-11 junior Lelani Kleman-Maeva.

"Everyone knew when they played us, they had to try to stop her," said 'Aiea coach Blythe Yamamoto. "She was physically dominant because she is big and can jump, but she also has a strong work ethic."

Na Ali'i went 10-0 in the regular season and Klemen-Maeva proved to be an easy choice as the West's Player of the Year in a vote of division coaches.

Her best performance came in the postseason, when she had 24 kills, 14 digs, only one error in 33 attempts and hit .696 to help 'Aiea defeat Roosevelt in the OIA quarterfinals. The win clinched a state tournament berth.

Kleman-Maeva is joined on the OIA West All-Star first team by three teammates: senior setter Shareyn Muneoka, middle blocker Konae Purcell and back row specialist Kristen Watabu.

Kapolei's Jarrell Taituave and Angela Woo, Leilehua's Lia Chun and Waipahu's Amanda Misa also made the first team.

Na Ali'i's Yamamoto was named Coach of the Year.
