Bruce Asato The Honolulu Advertiser Miyashiro, a 5-foot-7 setter/outside hitter, was the East's Co-Player of the Year in 2001 and also won the honor last season. She has made the East's All-Star first team in each of her four years on the varsity.
Miyashiro was recognized for her all-around skills hitting, blocking, serving, digging and passing, in addition to leadership.

Moanalua's Tommy Lake was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Menehunes to a 10-1 regular-season record despite losing 11 seniors including five starters from last year's team that finished second in the OIA.
The East featured several outstanding players this season, but Kalani senior Tamari Miyashiro ended up as the leading vote-getter for top honors by division coaches.
