Collegiate coaches from Stanford and UCLA and former major league baseball players will be at the Kalae Iki Youth Baseball Clinic in Kailua, Kona on the Big Island.
The clinic, set for July 25 to 27 at Simmon's Field and the adjoining youth fields, features UCLA head coach Gary Adams and Stanford head coach Mark Marquess and pitching coach Tom Kunis.
Other college coaches on the clinic staff include University of Hawai'i assistant Chad Konishi and UH-Hilo coach Joey Estrella.
Former major-league pitcher Tim Leary and infielder Doug DeCinces will also be at the clinic.
The three-day clinic is free and features daily 3-hour and 15-minute sessions at 8:30 a.m. for boys and girls ages 7 to 12 and at 1 p.m. for boys and girls ages 13 to 17.
Each session is open to 200 participants. Registration forms are available at the Kailua, Kona Permits Office, Waimea Community Center at Parker Gym, Waikoloa Elementary School F Bldg., and the Hilo Parks and Recreation Division Office located at Aunty Sally's Luau Hale.
In conjunction with the clinic, a free, four-hour coaching clinic will be held on July 24 at the Hapuna Prince Hotel's Hau Lehua Room.

Auto Racing Hawaiian Sand Drags go off tomorrow
Sand imported from various locations across O'ahu will be used in tomorrow's Hawaiian Sand Drags at Campbell Industrial Park.
The drag style race will be open to anyone with trucks, jeeps, dune buggies, nitro breathing rails and monster trucks. Drivers must have a driver's license, regulation helmets and working seat belts.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children. Gates open at 5 p.m.

Adventure Racing
Multi-sport event at Kualoa Ranch
The Spirit Adventure Race, consisting of hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and rapelling, will be held July 24 at Kualoa Ranch.
Teams of two or three people will be provided with a map and coordinates, and must find a series of locations sponsored by Adventure Race Hawai'i. The event should last between 3 to 5 hours.
Certifications in rope skills (rapelling) and water skills (kayaking) are required for the race, but ARH has training clinics available to help prepare people.

Sailing Kaua'i Channel race starts at Ko Olina
The 78-mile Kaua'i Channel Race will begin tomorrow at Ko Olina Marina at midnight and end at Nawiliwili Yacht Club on Kaua'i.
