State champions Kamehameha and Moanalua will be back to defend their titles in Sunday's state championships, after winning their respective league titles last Saturday.

Kamehameha, which won the Interscholastic League of Honolulu title, will be joined by second-place Iolani for the state championships.

O'ahu Interscholastic Association champ Moanalua scored 256 points, and will be joined at the state championships by Radford (245), Mililani (230.5), 'Aiea (210.5), Leilehua (189.5), Waipahu (181), Castle (175), Waialua (170) and Kaiser (158.5).

Also participating in the state meet, performing exhibition routines, are junior varsity programs Moanalua (208.5), Mililani (201), Castle (167.5), Kapolei (163), Radford (152), and Pearl City (136).



Soccer

Gatorade honors pair

Kelsey Baker of Punahou and Kirtus Adams of Iolani were named the 2004-05 Gatorade Hawai'i High School Girls and Boys Soccer Players of the Year.

Both players are finalists for Gatorade's National Player of the Year honors.

Baker, a senior central defender, anchored the backline as the Buffanblu won their third straight state title. She was named the state tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Baker also is a two-time Advertiser All-State first-team selection.

Adams, a senior midfielder, helped take the Raiders to the state final, where they lost to Kamehameha. He was an Advertiser All-State second-team selection last year.

The Moanalua First Hawaiian Bank Lady Menehune Peek Tournament begins tomorrow at Moanalua field.

The schedule:

Tomorrow—Sacred Hearts vs. Campbell, 5:30 p.m.; Moanalua vs. Waialua, 7 p.m. Thursday—Hilo vs. Nanakuli, 5:30 p.m.; Mid-Pacific vs. Kamehameha-Maui, 7 p.m. Friday—Consolation games at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Winners bracket at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday—Consolation games at 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 6 p.m. Championship, 7:30 p.m.
