This season, he left no doubt.
Lau was chosen the O'ahu Interscholastic Association East Player of the Year after scoring a league-high 17 goals and leading the Rough Riders to their first division title.

Castle forward Kory Muraoka and defender Ethan Gonsalves, Moanalua defenders Colin Morikawa and Landon Watanabe, and Kaiser midfielder Steele Legros and defender Matt Bush were chosen.
Farrington forward Ioane Siuta, Kalani midfielder Kevin Fujimoto, Kalaheo midfielder Stuart Aiu and Kaimuki goalkeeper Andre Agbayani were also selected.
Muraoka, Aiu and Watanabe are repeat selections to the first team.
David Chattergy was selected Coach of the Year after Farrington won a school-record five games.
