How does Pigskin Picks work?
It’s simple. Every week, you pick the teams you think are going to win each game on the ballot, being sure to include the total combined offensive yardage for both teams in the tiebreaker game. The prize for the highest weekly score is a trip for two to Las Vegas courtesy of Vacations Hawaii. Plus, the player with the highest cumulative record at the end of the season wins the “Football Fan Cave” prize package.
How does the game work?
All players – print and online - will be competing for the weekly prize – a trip for two to Las Vegas. You can enter the print version of Pigskin Picks as many times as you’d like every week. The ballots appear in The Honolulu Advertiser every Monday and Tuesday, and are also available at any Oahu Papa John’s with the redemption of a coupon.
For Pigskin Picks Online, you only have to enter just once per week. At the beginning of the season, you must register all your contact information. Your email address will serve as your username. Every week, you can use the same email address/password to come back and check your score for the week. Plus, by playing online you are automatically in the running for great year-end prizes.
Can I qualify for the year-end prizes if I only play in print?
No, sorry you must play online to qualify. Print entries are not eligible for the year-end prizes.
When is the deadline to enter my picks online?
All ballots are locked in at midnight Thursday every week. So, you can update your picks as often as you like up to that point. HonoluluAdvertiser.com will be sending you weekly reminders to lock in your picks for the week. (Be sure to open these emails every week for exclusive, money-saving coupons from Papa John's! Yum!)
What if I don't pick a winner for a game?
You must pick every game and fill out the tiebreaker score on your ballot or it will not be accepted.
The season has already started. Can I still play online?
You bet! It’s a weekly contest, so every week you have a new chance to win the trip to Vegas! Plus, by playing online you qualify for those year-end prizes. At the end of the season, the lowest four weekly scores from your total will be eliminated. So, even if you get started a little late, you still have a chance to qualify for the year-end prizes!
How does the online scoring work?
Just like the print version of Pigskin Picks, it’s one point per game. If there’s a tie, we move to the tiebreaker to determine the weekly winner. If there’s still a tie after that, a random drawing among all tied entries will determine the weekly winner. For ties for the year-end standings, the player with the highest weekly score in Week #18 will be declared the winner. If there is still a tie, the player with the closest tiebreaker in Week #18 will be the winner. If there is still a tie, a random drawing among all tied entries will determine the year-end winner.
How often are scores updated?
Usually, the scores and standings will be updated by 10 p.m. HT on Monday.
