Maui set to Run for the Whales

Advertiser Staff

One of Maui’s best-attended fun runs, the Pacific Whale Foundation’s 5K and 10K Run for the Whales, will be held Saturday in Makena.

The run will start at 7 a.m. and will begin at the Pacific Lawn at the Maui Prince Hotel. The course travels toward Wailea and is rated moderate and very scenic.

Divisions include 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.

The race is a benefit for Pacific Whale Foundation’s marine education programs for Maui’s schoolchildren.

Last year, more than 12,000 Maui schoolchildren learned about Hawaii’s marine life through these experience-based, hands-on science programs.

Registration in advance is $20. The fee on the day of the race is $25. Registration is at 6 a.m.

You also can register or volunteer by calling (808) 879-8860, the information hotline for the race.

A downloadable entry form is available at www.pacificwhale.org.
