Advertiser Staff

Notah Begay III is in and John Daly is out of the 14th annual Johnny Bellinger Shoot-Out, a Tuesday exhibition played during Sony Open in Hawaii week.

The 10-man elimination match will be played at 3 p.m. Jan. 16 at Waialae Country Club. The purse is $25,000. Players are eliminated at all six holes, with the survivor winning $5,500.

Begay is 33rd in the World Golf Ranking. He has won four times in his two years on tour. Begay’s brother, Clint, played golf for the University of Hawaii-Hilo.

Daly, who committed to play in the Shoot-Out earlier, now has to shoot an infomercial and won’t get into Honolulu until Tuesday night.

The field so far includes Begay, Billy Andrade, Paul Azinger, Peter Jacobsen, Steve Jones, Tom Lehman, Vijay Singh and Scott Simpson.

Azinger is Sony’s defending champion and has played in all but one Shoot-Out. Jacobsen won the Shoot-Out last year.
