TOMORROW
Starting Thursday at the Sony Open in Hawaii golf tournament, Island celebrity chefs will cook culinary delights for spectators. Tasting portions will be sold alongside the 11th fairway at Waialae Country Club, with proceeds benefiting the Friends of Hawaii Charities, host organization for the Sony Open. Thursday 11 a.m.- 2 p.m., Roy Yamaguchi and Philippe Padovani will be featured; Friday 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Roy Yamaguchi; Saturday 10 a.m-1 p.m., Alan Wong and Ryan Day, and Sunday 10 a.m-1 p.m., D.K. Kodama and Ryan Day.
FRIDAY
Winz and Grinz, a traditional wine-pairing dinner seasoned with local flavor, 5-9 p.m. at The Pineapple Room. Chef de cuisine Steven Ariel and pastry chef Mark Okumura have collaborated on a six-course menu with three wine pairings. $49 per person, $54 with wine. 945-8881.
Taste of Italy from the Robert Mondavi Family of Wines, 5-6:30 p.m. at Sam Choys Diamond Head restaurant. Mondavi representative We Zane hosts a tasting of wines paired with appetizers by executive chef Elmer Guzman. $20 per person 732-8645.
SATURDAY
"That Money Show," 5:30 p.m. on KHET Channel 10, explores the world of food as big business in America. Ruch Reichl, editor of Gourmet magazine, and food critic Ed Levine are special guests on this program exploring how television has entered the food domain, the economics of modern upscale dining and the business of small farms in America.
